VAZ Village for (expectant) mothers
Together you are stronger
Being pregnant and having a baby is something special, but it can also be intense and overwhelming at times. During this period in particular, it is wonderful to feel supported – not just by us as a practice, but also by others going through the same experience. There is a reason people say: “It takes a village to raise a child.” With that in mind, we as a practice have made a deliberate choice for the VAZ Village: a group of (expectant) mothers at the same stage, brought together by Verloskundigen Amsterdam Zuid.
Centering pregnancy, but with a difference
VAZ Village is similar to centering pregnancy in that it centres on contact with other expectant mothers, but we do things a little differently. More relaxed and in a way that better fits how we want to provide care: personal, accessible and without obligations.
Connecting with women at the same stage
Within VAZ Village, we connect (expectant) mothers who are due around the same time. You meet women who are going through the same stages at roughly the same moment. This creates recognition, understanding and often lasting connections too. In these groups you can:
• share experiences
• ask questions
• stay in touch during the postnatal period and beyond
How we bring you together
During your pregnancy, we will ask whether you would like to take part in VAZ Village. If you do, we will connect you with a group of women who are due around the same time, via a WhatsApp group.
We facilitate the first introduction and help you on your way. After that, contact often develops naturally, in whatever way suits you, without a fixed structure or compulsory programme.
Your network close to home
VAZ Village creates a valuable network of women in your area. Someone who understands you, with whom you can share experiences or simply go for a walk together. In this way, we build a warm, caring environment around your new family.
